yippity yesterday...

yippity? huh?

4/6:
I've discovered I'm really good at something... paper cuts! I seem to do it all the time! Today I did two fingers in one action! Cor! Check me out, I'm the master!
And for that I get a gold star *bling*...

Blank Tapes 5a + b Launch # 1 went very smoothly last night. Had 60 or so through the door, so not too bad for a cold Thursday.

The Vague were great, stringing on to this growing number of bands with guitar and drums only. I remember the first time I saw the Frustrations from Tassie play at Inzone many years ago. They were just great!

Next week is Leigh*dust, Matt's Little Brother, Sweet Raxx, Hit the Jackpot + Blood Robots. Come along, it'll be great!

Glancey rubbed Spoz's ego a bit in Rip It Up *hehe*

I need a haircut. Don't want to go too 80's or too gay for that matter, but I have an idea...

Still reading "how men think"... it's good so far, and giving me a bit of a biology refresher in the process...
(end of stuff from yesterday)
Might go see The Satellites + Jackson United @ The Grace tonight. hmm.

I shouldn't care...

but I do....

31/5: I get confused with information overload. I do often repeat myself, stuck in one spot or replay scenarios of times past over and over in my head. Like my memory is kind of stuck...

The information overload... comes from getting frustrated I can't know something about everything... and although I know that people who think they do know it all are fooling themselves... not being able to know it all truly frustrates me.

Particularly regarding things that immediately effect me, and the community around me.

But I mean, I can't expect to know it all. We live in the 'information age' damnnit, with things thrust at us from all angles. Radio, TV, Magazines, Books, Cable TV, Internet, Telemarketing, Newspapers, Music, Film. It drives me crazy that there is so much of it. I guess that's why I sometimes ignore newscasts and such because I htink that nothing else will actually FIT in my head.

I'm positive there are techniques to improve things like memory, but I'd almost be afraid of my head exploding!!

The new book I've started reading is entitled (perhaps in some kind of sexist?? way) "How Men Think: 7 essential rules for making it in a mans world". What it's about is women and men in business. How there often seems to be unwritten rules and game-playing between men in business + it becomes a problem in that women don't understnad why the men do what they do, and vice versa. Written by a psychologist who first discovered some of these rules when she took up sailing, and written mainly because she's had many female patients crying in her office, within a short period of time, and all with similar problems... which sparked curiosity.

So in essence, it's not a book slating men, but more trying to bring men and women together in the workplace. So it should be interesting.

The Day After Tomorrow was good...
"Our Economy is every bit as fragile as our Environment"

and something along the lines of "third world countries have sheltered us, and fed us, and for that we are grateful..."
Significant moments in the film: having a man previously homeless as one of the survivors, assisting some of the middle class members; showing great weakness in America, particularly in a mass-evacuation situation; Knowledge is power; technology is every bit as good as it is bad.

We need to bloody well wake up and stop destroying our natural resources NOW before it really is too late. Make a conscious effort to drive less, and recycle more. these are the two simplest things that YOU can do every day. If you have the time, consider the packaging on items you purchase....
(all boring random stuff off the top of my head)

I wish I was smart enough to be an environmental scientist.
Damn it!

bits n pieces...

1) how do you read the sydney morning herald? i mean really, it's like a massive piece of butchers paper!!

2) i haven't been watching American Idol religeously, but thank mashugana Fantasia won. Damn, she can sing! you go girl.

3) we need a fucking revolution man!

from 28/5...
it occured to me whilst sifting through a pile of junk and talking on the phone a few days ago, that I broke up with my ex (so far, the only real 'adult' relationship I've had) nearly 4 years ago.

Which leads me to a new vox pop.... #3 i think, but whose counting...??
Do you think that the time in between serious relationships is generally equal to that time SPENT in the relationship?

I mean I know 100% of the time this isn't going to be the case... and though I don't think of that time unless it's to make comparisons when others experience similar things... I wonder if my subconscious has been giving me all of the barriers I need to get in the way of letting me find someone else... eg. giving me tunnel vision.

Tunnel vision with me is a terrible thing. I wind myself up and up over these intense friendships/relationships til I start to fall apart (like at the moment). Currenlty though I am also in the midst of what my "therapist" calls a 1/4 life crisis.

perhaps perhaps perhaps

i love that doris day song... it's so romantic and such a beautiful slow dance song.

hence using it in strictly ballroom i guess...

*brr* i am actuallly cold. I opened up some windows to let some fresh air in here, but it's making my hands go purple.
damn to cold weather.
*closing a window*

i am feeling much better today. have been laden with flu all week. i blame a guy at work. he's like "oh yeh i've had that for 3 weeks"... i say "oh, so it's your fault is it?"

this is the guy i dig quite a lot, and, seemingly so does another work colleague. I discovered this at a party over the weekend. We both agreed his girlfriend is boring and he should date younger women. ie. both of us. or at least one of us.

hehe.

finished one book...

Stupid White Men by Michael Moore.
And a damn fine book it is too.

Keep up with the man's fine work at www.michaelmoore.com

My heater started sparking at me last night, so I quietly shat myself and turned it off without electricuting myself. There's another $20+ i didn't need to spend on a little heater.

poo :(

Okay, back to cleaning my house!

from a few days back...

20/5: Next month sees me increase my jobs to 3!! Holy snorkel! Now this might sound insane on top of the volunteering (which I'm not counting in the three), however the third job is door-bitching every Thursday for 4 weeks. I must say I feel I am an excellent door bitch; I haven't done it for a while but I am sure it's something you never lose your flair for.
Constant sarcastic throws of 'nope, dont believe you, show me your ID' and heckles of 'come one, come all' shall ensue I am sure.

en·sue ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-s)
intr.v. en·sued, en·su·ing, en·sues
To follow as a consequence or result.
To take place subsequently.

21/5: I've been thinking some more about this business opportunity that I may or may not have available to me (depending on what Mr Bank Manager has to say probably). I do want some feedback because... well the main problem I can see is that I have been setting my sights on moving to Brisneyland. If I were to purchase this business with the intent of becoming an owner/operator, it's not likely that I will be going anywhere.

I like the idea of Adelaide as a place to settle, but in between time; now; when there is just me, I feel I really should be taking advantage of the fact I can travel/move etc without burden. And yet, this said, I would like to go to Brisneyland but is it going to change enough circumstance to keep me satisfied, or make me more miserable?! I guess that's the risk you take with everything really isn't it?

I feel lonely, I feel lost, I feel that I am without direction, I feel without a career! And I feel like I need a good large kick in the pants.

There are a bunch of things I need to find out about the business before I make my final decision on it. The person only wants to sell it to me now though, which is interesting consdiering they hardly know me (though a friend is already employed there so so partly knows me). It's making my head hurt!
waah.

today: I wrote a really emotion filled e-mail last night to my friend who is leaving soon. I think it's said everything I need to say (nearly). I mainly want them to know how much I will miss them when they go, as they are such a strength and has this amazing way of making me feel protected and safe when I'm around him.

This said, my dreams last night were filled with all these visions of closeness between us. Not sexual at all, but just the fact that we do find comfort in each others company. I'd like to think that we do. I hope he feels that.

I don't want him to go, but at the same time would never try to stop him. He needs this.

Damn. I didn't want to make myself cry, and I just did. Fuck me.

Flash those pearly whites!

(written down earlier today)
I'm finding it really difficult to smile. Just now I ran into the person I have desperately wanted to see for over a week. They asked me what was wrong and I make an excuse that is nothing like the actual reason.

I had a fully tops weekend catching up with Pipstar and listening to Buck 65 and Blonde Redhead on the way across the country. The sky is so magnificent in the middle of nowhere, you can see the stars so clearly. How dry our farms are really hit home out there too. Conservation organisations being ignored the way they are is just ludicrous. This country is seriously running out of water.

And another thing, if you're not already, please consider car pooling, cycling, walking or catching public transport more often. I assume the reason fuel is so expensive at the moment is that there is less of it?! I use approximately $10 of fuel every 3 weeks. The rest of the time I'm on buses or on my bike and consistently walking around.

This Adelaide City Council Youth Advisory thing I did last week was great, there's another on tonight. I would like to suggest that they try making Adelaide City the Eco-Capital of Australia. I mean our recycling programs are good and always evolving as industries develop, but I'd like to see more.

When I worked for the Waste Management Co I learned quite a bit and encouraged as many people as I could to recycle as I could see where products were going and how the new industries were sometimes desperate for certain types of recyclables to keep their work going.

Ok, now I'm off on a tangent...

My initial point was that I need something to make me happier. I'm very happy I'm reading again, nearly done with Stupid White Men.

I think I've lost a little weight, I'm definately more conscious of what I"m eating.

I feel uncomfortable with some friendships at the moment, and terribly comfortable with others.

I'm still slowly culling the items I own to live a more simplistic life style.

I'll be practising some more new receipes on Saturday, because a girl from where I'm temping is having her 21st and I offered to whip up some stuff...

(and written right now)...

I just feel there has to be more.
I just saw a friend who had come back from Paris. He loved it. Perhaps I should go there?

I don't know where I belong, and it's making me crazy, but I don't think it's here... as much as I love having my friends and family close by, this place isn't stimulating my brain enough anymore...

Life certainly is what you make of it, I've just got to bloody well make something of it!

nobody likes me...

everybody hates me...
think i'll go eat worms...

because no-body leaves me comments any more, or maybe you're just all sick of my bullshit drivel huh?

Yeh probably the latter.

I've been trying to think of things to post that interest me or that are not this whining bollocks, but it consumes so much of my head at the moment, I can't help it.

Had a radiothon meeting just then in planning for our Annual Subscriber-Drive (this year in August, stay tuned)... we have some good ideas. Every year it becomes more trial and error, eventually we'll perfect it I'm sure. It's definately come a long way since I started 10 years ago.

Yes, this is my tenth year in community radio *takes a bow*. That time has gone so quickly, but so much has happened in those ten years as well... I can't believe it.

*insert reminiscent music here*

oh dear, my head is starting to hurt. I'd advise I stay away from the computer for a while.

ciao.

cut off my legs and call me shorty...

this week is going to be a doozy. I have responsibilities every day and night til Saturday when I shall simply shop the day away in Syd-e-ney.

My few favourite things in Sydney are:
1) Trovata's on Stanley Street - one of the tastiest places I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. Bravo tenthousand!
2) MCA - The Museum of Contemporary Art
3) The Big Carousel in Darling Harbour. I don't care how old you are. You should always get on it and make loud whooping and yeehaw noises like Shorty and I did one time. Fine holiday fun!
4) The Candle Shop + some pizza place @ the Rocks. I can never remember the name of the pizza place, but I can always find it (i'll let you know later).
5) Paddy's Market + Seconds shops - need I say more?

For those of you travelling to Sydney in the near future, that is my top 5!
The Sydney Aquarium in the Harbour comes a close #6. It's been such a long time since I've been to Sydney, it will be nice indeed, if only for a day!

I have calmed down a hell of a lot since my initial crazy reaction on Friday night. I mean, really, what am I going to do without my "therapist" around?! I guess, finally, stand alone. An interesting concept.

I don't know why I went to the person I went to on Saturday, but I kept my cool around them and managed to think and talk of other things, and left their company completely calmed. Intersting, because my friendship with this person is particularly complex.

Earlier that day I could barely speak without bursting into tears. I felt like I was going to vomit all day, gave myself a headache, and I also don't think I'd slept all that much. Talk about a kick in the guts! It winded me.

I don't know why it hurt so much, I guess because I'd finally decided to do something about spending more time with this person in other social settings *shrug*. I suppose the simplest answer is that I'll miss them dearly. It's not like they haven't left before, but the way our friendship has grown in the past 6-8 months has been very important to me, as I particularly revel in friendships that constantly develop and change. And whenever something else has crushed me he has been in the same familiar place for me to go get a hug *sigh*...

There is no point me being a cry-baby over it. After all the world is so small now, it's not like 800+ kilometres is far now is it?!

I have been thinking of starting another 'dedication' segment on my show relating to optimistic songs. I mean it's fine for me to rip everyones heart out each week with a love song (more like ripping out my own) but having an outline optimistic song would be kind of nice too.

I hope you all enjoyed the twangy-guitar BARRY MANILOW love song dedication last week! hehe.

(lost a post again, damn)

i feel like I'm falling apart.

broken head...

so my broken head is broken... actually i think my back/neck is out and therefore it hurts like a bitch.

Today I was asked to join a Youth Reference Group for the Adelaide City Council, and I'm thrilled. It just turns out someone I haven't seen for a while, and met ages and ages ago at a Sundy Side Up, has been working with the Council for a few months and they are looking for input for a few new strategies. I look forward to seeing what they have in mind...

On other secret womens business... I am in the very beginning stages of possibly purchasing a City Business (providing a bank will come to the party)... more on that later...

I got tix for me and a friend to go to the Paris Combo. I look forward to it greatly.

"hey mama i just gotta celebrate..." - i *finally* purchased a Frankie Vaughan album. He is one of my favourite 50's Broadway types and did the film "Let's make Love" with Marilyn Monroe and Yves Montand (which I highly recommend by the way)... wow and it's so super excellent. I'm so glad I finally got it.

See this exhibition @ Modra Hayes Design, 92 Currie St for the next month or so... a blown glass exhibition by Peta Cowen Goh. They are nice pieces indeed.

1 million bux!!

sux to me not being shortlisted for Big Brother...!! that would have saved me having to tackle the corporate world next year on my quest to make the million bux...

It's just an idea you know... with the western countries the way they are, I kind of figure it can't be *that* hard to make a million dollars. What I'll do to try and make that much I'm not sure yet... but it can't be that hard... and if I actually manage to achieve it, a large portion will be used to take my very closest friends on a nice European holiday!

Shopped at HarbourTown yesterday... however it's not near a harbour, nor is it a town, so yeh, interesting choice of shopping complex name. Got some spunky red shoes that make me feel like I should be saying "theres no place like home", a mermaid skirt and a hoody jacket (with extra added faux fur of course)... still no new pants but I'll work on that in Sydney... damn to having a funny shaped body! but i guess everyone has trouble finding clothes sometimes...

I am still sad, yes, yes I am, but I'm not going to complain, because frankly no-one sympathises with a whiner.

Happy re-warmed house Dida...

Courtesy of the Splendiferous SARA...

Ever been so drunk you blacked out: Yes, but also added another smoke-able substance making it all the more worse for me. I was also about 16...

Put a body part on fire for amusement: Nope.

Been in a car accident: I hit a roo on my way up to the Barossa a while ago. I have never heard such a primal scream come from my mouth.

Been hurt emotionally: Erm, yep. Exhibit a) ex-bf.

Kept a secret from everyone: I'm sure there's at least one...

Had an imaginary friend: When I was about 4 and my best friend went away, a magical imaginary 'rebecca' appeared everywhere I went... or so I'm told. Could be a conspiracy by my folks to make me think I'm insane...

Wanted to hook up with a friend: Yes, currently I would like to hook up with my 'friend'.

Cried during a Movie: Yes, Saturday near the end of Kill Bill Volume 2.

Had a crush on a teacher: I don't think so. They all were pretty old and ugly.

Ever thought an animated character was hot: Ooh good one Sara, forgot about Trent from Daria!

Had a New Kids on the Block tape: I had a CD. Never a t-shirt though.

Cut your hair: Yep, and even got it straight and all.

>-------FAVOURITES-------------

Shampoo: One that cleans my hair.

Colour: Probably blue.

Day/Night: Night.

Summer/Winter: Summer-ific.

Lace or satin: Ok, I recently became a fan of french knickers, so what do you think? Ok, ok too much info, but now it's there, I can't take it back!

Cartoon Characters: Inspector Gadget, Danger Mouse ("I have the sudden urge to run at top speed in the other direction, would you care to join me Penfold?")

Food: I also am a food-whore, so I cannot answer this in less than a page.

Fave Advert: NOT the one where they say 'no other tampon is easier to insert, and remove'. Like for godssake!! We don't need to know that!!

Fave Film: Ferris, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Clueless, Trust

Fave Ice Cream: Lemon Cheesecake Gelati from Cibo.

Fave Subjects: I don't study anymore.

>------------------NOW-----------

Wearing: Bad looking teal socks, bonds underpants, adidas trackies, some french looking top that used to belong to Bec, a white bra of what brand i don't know, cost a lot though!

Drinking: Sparkling Red Wine. oh not right now, but on weekends. Erm, I'm about to drink some OJ.

Thinking about: How cold my hands are, how to get more motivated, what to say to said 'friend', cop shows suck (except the Bill)

Listening to: dumb cop show. but ordinarily... music that's better than a dumb cop show.

>---------IN THE LAST 24 HRS--------

Cried: No, thank god.

Worn a skirt: No it's been cold.

Cleaned your room: I tried.

Done laundry: Yep.

Drove a car: Nope. Public Transport and Legs all the way baby.

>----------DO YOU BELIEVE IN-------

Yourself: Almost, but not quite (to continue, enter the correct spelling)

Friends: Absolutely.

Santa Claus: Only if he really is that guy from that show that had the guy whose head you only used to see the top of over the fence... erm... yep that one.

Tooth Fairy: I have no doubt fairies exist.

Destiny/Fate: Abbasalutely.

Karma: Yes and no.

Angels: Earthly ones more-so.

Ghosts: Haven't come across one, so not entirely sure.

>---------FRIENDS AND LIFE--------

Who's the loudest out of your friends: Yeh, probably me too! Tank maybe.

Who's the weirdest out of your friends: probably me again. Erm, yeh actually i could answer this but won't for fear of getting in another mud-slinging match.

Who will respond to this e-mail fastest: Das es not und e-mail.

Who did you send this to who won't respond: If y'all put in on yer blog's then leave me a comment so I know to read yours.

Do you want all your friends to do this and send it back to you? Dumb question, this is on my BLOG YOU F*CKKKKKER!

>----------------OTHER-------------------

Who would win? Bruce Lee or Ali? Hmm, good question, I don't know.

HAPPY BOITHDAY FOR YESTERDAY DADDIO!

oh...

and yes, I lost my template again so all my links and stuff disappeared which just is killing me, so I'll fix it again soon!
xJ

so...

if there's one thing I know in my heart, it's not to give up without a fight.

If my friend still ends up leaving the state then there's not much I can do, short of trying to hold them to my running gag of "that's ok, i'll pick you up on my way to Brisneyland"

I've started writing down everything I eat again, which I highly recommend you do if you feel you need to lose weight.... not count calories so much, but do if for a couple weeks, then either take the list to a GP or nutritionist and make them circle all the stuff you probably shouldn't be eating... school-room style!

I mean, alternatively do if yourself... you will know which things are bad. This is about the only thing that has worked for me in the past, the last time I felt this random.

I'm very guilty of drinking lots of softdrink, so it'll always freak me out when I add up the quantity I've drunk over a fortnight. I haven't started Yoga again yet but that will be next week I hope. At least I got to ride my bike last weekend! Two days in a row! WOOHOO!

Have started reading "STUPID WHITE MEN" by Michael Moore. One thing I did want to do this year was read about politics... I think this is a good way to start.

It's damned freezing!

I saw Nick Barker + Southpaw play at the Grace Emily last night. I also caught up with my dashing musical genius friend Luke who is just fabulous! We have made a pact to go to the Grace every fortnight or something, because neither of us had been there in a while and I'd forgotten how utterly great it was. I drank way too much again, I just hope I didn't make too much of a mess of their bathrooms. *yuk, bad visual I know*

My level of alcohol consumption kind of concerns me now, but I hope I can start to behave a little bit more when the mission gets more into full swing. I've been pretty happy with my progress, up until today when I had to go buy hot chips + gravy! That's so bad! I hate that I can't control that sometimes! I always get half way through and think 'yuk' and don't eat the rest. So it's on to apricots and apples tonight for me, whilst I watch my favourite night of TV all week. I don't know what is going to happen to me when they stop with Sex + The City... bah! I wish that show went for ever, it's totally my favourite. I hope they replace it with something just as good on a Monday. Come on Channel 10, don't let me down now!

"My baby don't care for cars and races... my baby don't care for high town places..."

So anyhoo, Friday as I cried into my glass of red I wondered why on Earth I felt the way I did. I have been feeling rather inadequate and random, so I told the person I usually go to for comfort that I couldn't see them for a few weeks. Whether or not that's made it worse I don't know.

aside: It's amazing when one hug from one person can make you gasp. Or just the fact that they have just complimented you makes you get butterflies.

Yesterday I walked into town (that's an hour and a half i've discovered if you really meander part of the way looking at houses) and saw Kill Bill Vol 2, then walked up to my friends place in North Adelaide (another 40 minutes if you meander). So I felt pretty good that I'd done all that exercise. And today I've ridden my pushie to radio. Feel great about it. It's a bit along the lines of 'look out world, here i come'... and in particular look out the one person I want to be more a part of my life than ever....

I would like to say it was very interesting watching both KILL BILL's this week after having just finished Ben Elton's "Popcorn", a book which is primarily about violence in films. I thought Quentin's latest offering was a damn fine, and that Volume 2 completely rounded out the story, and though it was much different to the first one... was absolutely perfect to close the story off. I cried and cried at the end. Like "wow" - so thank you Quentin, if you ever find me in cyberspace I doubt... but I must say... bravo!

bada bing, bada boom, I'm outta here, John Wayne style...

Full of animation and spirit; lively: a charming and vivacious host.

it's cold. i don't like cold.
i felt better earlier because I've started my health kick. now i feel shite cos I had to put clothes on again (like clothes give you lines in your body man, it'd be better if we were all naked).

Ben Elton's POPCORN

I finished reading this book yesterday (at work actually, it was that quiet for me, can't complain I guess)...
It started off a little too slowly for me, like a Quentin Tarintino film it flicked back and forth confusing the mashugana out of me, however this could have also been because I was reading it right before I went to bed and I'm usually pretty tired by then. And I was being lazy and reading really small portions at a time...
Anyhoo, all in all, half this book is set in one room, and I must say, fine job Elton... fine job indeed.

Started on Michael Moore's STUPID WHITE MEN today... more on that later.

logies, music, fashion + cellulite

do yourself a favour and read Nick's recollection of our coveted logies award ceremony over at the Rhubarb Purgative...

I forgot how insanely beautiful Radiohead's OK COMPUTER album is... I have not listened to it in it's entirety in such a long time. It was a valentines day present many years ago now. Thom Yorke has this golden voice, and it just makes you shiver like Jeff Buckeleys did... god bless ya Jeff...
This said, Frank Blacks' "Teenager of the Year" is darned fine too...

I realised I should take my notebook with me EVERYWHERE today...
Do girls commiting cardinal fashion faux pas realise that it's truly bad? For example: two girls roaming the street in obviously recently purchased revolting and very regurgitated 80's fashion including a camo cap and STILETTOS WITH SOCKS!!??
I mean come ON!! I understand heels fucking hurt, and if so, here's a simple solution rather than adding socks to your already dastardly ensemble... buy some that don't hurt your feet! A bigger size, a smaller heel... I don't care, just don't wear fucking socks! You're not Madonna!

'nuff said.

as for cellulite... well I've got some, how about you? *nyuk*
I am on a mission, and unfortunately wanting to lose upper body weight means my boobs get smaller first before I lose weight anywhere else, which is kind of a bummer, but hey, I'd rather that.

Homer: "hello? hello taste?"

What is your favourite Web Site?
Unknown. There are many sexy ones including...
stayhuman.org
thenewpollultants.net
and of course buck65.com

What is the one CD you would take on a Desert Island with you?
Well there would be no bloody electricity so there would be no point. Besides I refrain from answering 'favourite music' questions for obvious reasons...

What was the worst job you ever had?
Accounts bitch for a waste management company... because the big boss management types had no guts!

If you could be anyone else, who would it be and why?
I'd be interested to how the other half lives (as in, be a boy for a day or something) but apart from that I couldn't tell you.

What was the strangest or most embarrassing story you've heard or that happened to you?
When I was younger I had this medical problem with a particular part of my body, and my best friend went and told the cute boy i liked. that was pretty embarrassing.

Tell us the weirdest dream you ever had?
Oh wow. Too many. Seriously though the other day I dreamt I was pregnant, and that I'd told a friend that it was his, but then had the revelation that I'd been rather drunk that weekend, and perhaps I'd screwed more than one person! Which is a) completely out of character and b) means I'm also paranoid in my dreams!!

What is the strangest name of someone you know?
Michael Jackson! I kid you not!

Tell us the most outrageous thing you ever did for money?
Very little...

What is the most embarrassing CD/Record/8 Track in your collection?
Everybody's Line Dancing! Di + Brad sent it to me as part of a birthday package one year for a bit of a gag. I'm yet to depart with it... or open it for that matter!

What is the best/worst nickname of someone you know?
Beek - my sister. and none of us can remember why she is called that. she just is.

What is the most bizarre thing you've ever seen?
these questions are making me try and think too much.

What is the stupidest thing you ever bought that seemed like a good idea at the time?
anything I bought for my ex-bf.

What is the best/worst pick-up line you've heard or used?
Best: "hey baby, be my chips + gravy".... worst: "do you come here often? no you don't understand.... do you come... here often? do you come often?" I SHIT YOU NOT, THIS HAPPENED TO ME. What is the world coming to?!

What is the weirdest food you've eaten?
I like food but nothing particulary out of the ordinary.

Tell us about the worst roommate/guest you've ever had?
the one i kicked out after 5 days because he a) stunk the house out, b) followed me around like a lost puppy, c) leered at my female friends, d) stunk the house out!

What is your best/worst animal or pet story?
Just watching Bec + Scotts cats running a total muck when they were kittens and I was house-sitting. Greg and I lost our minds when we saw the littlest one do a total flip and keep running.

What is the stupidest thing you've ever done?
Fallen down the stairs. and not told particular people that I love them. *sigh*

What is the most memorable bumper sticker you can think of?
Hell! I'm sure there's been plenty of good ones, but I don't know!

What is the worst surprise you ever found in your food?
Pubic Hair in food from a restaurant!

What is the most misunderstood song lyric in your opinion?
Have to be the lyrics to Informer! Classic!

What is the strangest phone call you've ever received?
Not phone call, but Text. I had gotten my friends number wrong by one digit and was trying to talk to her about something, so when i kept getting answered i assumed it was her, only to eventually call the number and have some girl in queensland answer the phone. i was like erm, would have helped if you'd said you weren't her in the first place you FREAK!

What is strangest hallucination you've ever had?
I don't take chemicals.

What is the one movie you've watched most times?
Ferris Buellers Day Off.

What is your favourite line from a movie?
"Do you prefer fashion victim, or ensemble challenged?"

What's the longest you've ever been single since you started dating?
Must be 3 years now... I think. Lost count. Don't particularly care.

Fave fashion statement?
Anything as long as it wasn't created in the 80's. I agree Dida though, wearing low cut tops is a must if you have the cleavage to show-off.

Have you ever been in a band?
Stage Band at school. Managed a couple of them though.

Your first car?
1986 Champagne Pink Mitsubishi Colt! Got stolen. Bastard!

What book are you reading at the moment?
Finished Ben Elton's "Popcorn" today. Not bad.

Last movie you saw at the cinema?
I don't think I remember. Sad! I don't go much any more.

When was the last time you saw a play?
12 Angry Men during the Fringe. Great play, pity about two particular members of the cast being knobjockeys...

What song is playing at the moment?
TV doesn't count as a song.

Have you left school?
Yep.

What are your all-time favourite Simpsons quotes?
"Grandpa, how did you get your pants off without taking off your trousers?"
"I don't know!"

What events have made you realise who your real friends are?
Fringe Festival 2004 - god bless it.

B-Boys makin' with the freak-freak...

I must say that I personally feel that Ill Communication is the *best* album the Beastie Boys have done to date.

Today I went for a hike up in Morialta Conservation Park. It was lovely. We all got a little sweaty, but felt really good at the end of it.

This week I'm holding an Indian Cooking night... yummy. Which means I need to finish cleaning my house properly and move the computer. *yawn* that's not fun!

I am thinking I might make some caramelised onion muffins... hmm. I wonder if evil-neighbour will come eat them with me.... and no Andrew I'm not referring to you!! Am referring to a slightly further away who is not *actually* that evil, sometimes we just like to pretend to be evil....

I don't know if anyone knows much about colour therapies... or more when you associate colours with moods, that's what i mean.... anyway, I have a theory that the reason I feel a little unhappy is that my apartment is actually filled with quite a lot of dark colours... I thought perhaps that could be bringing me down...

hmm, next daytime weekend outing will be to Belair Golf course to award the wooden spoon to the worst player (probably me, i'm pretty crap from memory!)...

Huzzah!

the archives are back kiddies...

my brain hurts from drinking last night I think?? hmm. Saw Southpaw and Wolf + Cub at the Ex last night and both bands were damn good. The sound in that beer garden is never great, but they pulled it off.

Southpaw are launching a CD on the 25th April. I recommend y'all attend. I'll get details later.

Things i definately must take to Brisneyland...
Bicycle
Lamp that Heidi gave me
CD's and Vinyl
Greed (dice game)
Backgammon
Picnic Basket
Photos + Camera
Cook Books
Clothes

hmm. already a lot.

I'm once again in a void of "i hate everything in my wardrobe" but I have also been having what can now be known as 'puffy days' so that's probably part of it... "none of it fits properly", "my stomach pokes out", waah waah waah. God, if that's the only problem I had I'd be doing ok!!

Remember: less is more.

sugar...

mmm sugar.

I am listening to my Elvis Costello + The Attractions 'best of...' CD which is fully fantastic.

I am also consuming a tasty apricot fruit bar from Angas Park Fruits.... mmm Angas Park Fruits...

"I can't stand up for fallin' down..."

So anyhoo, shortly I shall be off to the Exeter to cause trouble with some other 3D people and get some rock into me, because lets face it, of late I've spent more time drinking alkymahall and socialising than actually watching rock. Which is quite bad indeed.

Note to self: Stop playing with your therapist and get serious about music consumption.

Today I purchased a 12" LP copy of Carousel (The Rogers and Hammerstein musical thingo) and I can't play it cos my record player has shat itself. Which I am also not happy about... how can I listen to Patsy Cline's crooning when it's busted huh? bum!

If I wasn't such a knob I would have spent Thursday night in Melbourne with Team Plastique.

I went to entertain hobbly mchobble-hobble shaggy shaz last night and made the yummy bean soup and ate hot angry buns and played Mhing (card game, of which we started making our own 'pick the cards up' expressions - very silly indeed).

The culling has slowly begun... my spare room will become the 'get rid of these things' room I'm sure... I have to purchase a bike rack thingo for my car so I can move the bike without taking it apart and/or having to fit it in the boot with the rest of my life.

I am *again* unhappy with the state of my wardrobe... I mean at least I've got two skirts now, however it's just not enough to keep me satisfied! Once I get my pink fluffy hoody top I'll feel much beItta...

best be off to get ready for the outing...

buy less packaging,

things that suck...

reality tv.
sore eyes from cutting up onions.
burning the butter in a saucepan.
not being arsed trying to fix my apparently screwed up tax return from 2 years ago (yay, thanks ATO for not reading my correspondence in the firstplace, fuckheads)

things that rock...
the jade monkey.
gotye.
sultana scones.
red potatoes.
becoming the 'list lady'. (explain this one later)
increasing the crush-list to 5... ooh.
team plastique getting some gigs in Europe.

crush list being on 5, is a big thing... it was 3 for a long time, recently it dropped back to 2 (obviously)... now there's bloody 5! cor!

1. I have met this one very few times, though I like the conversations I've had with this person, and we have quite similar interests. I nearly died when they said they liked the same film directors as me... wowzers!
2. Ok, number 2 is some guy who catches my bus who is just simply a handsome man. There is not much possibility of me ever speaking to them, because I'm a fraidy cat.
3. This one actually works where I currently work... I don't know how old he is or whatever, but I dig him. I thought he was nice looking, then he told me he didn't like car racing, and I melted. Aww, pour some sugar on me.
4. This one is very very interesting indeed. I can say no more.
5. "Want to go halves in a kid?" My favourite man, and probably never future anything, but worth a mention none-the-less. Fun to bite.

Genre Wars...

So, i'm sure at least some of you who can't hear me in radioland are wonder what the snuuh is Genre Wars...

Well basically, the challenge has been set to a couple of my local musician pals, Nigel Home for the Def, and Mr Speed from the New Pollutants.... to go one on one in what we call GENRE WARS...

Genre Wars is a bit of a competition where we need your help... basically it breaks down like this, ok... I will name a genre, and the guys will have a limited amount of time (perhaps the time it takes to play a track) to find a song they can think of from that genre of music... try and think of a Genre that might stump the boys... and e-mail it to us at genrewars@yahoo.com.au

We will try and organise some sort of prize for the best suggestion, or the one that stumps them the most!

I expect your suggestion.... now!!

bah!

"how would you like it if I came over with my click?"

what the hell is "my click"?

anyway.... blame the subject header on the fact i'm listening to destinys child presently... and no, i know, based on my radio play list posts you're probably thinking 'wha'?' but destinys child are da shit and I wont hear otherwise, ok? good, glad we got that sorted.

it occurs to me that I possibly need an entirely overhauled personality. I don't know, I guess people that know me, know me well, so put up with all the quirks and weird crap i get up to...

Presently, much like gothqueen and several other bloggers and people I know... there is change in the air... we all want to change things about ourselves. In my case, I don't want to become an old negative person.

One reason I kind of mention that is that I have an elderly relative who is constantly complaining about how sick she feels, how bad she has it, how her family ignores her blah blah, and the honest truth is that is bullshit! She has her whole family revolving around her, and trying to appreciate her, but she's like a selfish spoilt teenager still. It really upsets me you know because I love my family, everyone in it, there's not one cousin, aunt or uncle that i dislike... (well, nearly) but I'm scared that this person will die old and alone, and bitter, thinking that they didn't enjoy life because they spent too much of it complaining...

I never want to be like that, I'd rather someone hit me over the head with a piece of 4x2 and be done with it.

I don't know how I got to this point I am at now... I don't know why I feel I need to be different, and in some ways I don't... apart from the negativity thing, however, it appears to me that a couple people I thought I knew quite well get confused by me.... or, more exactly, think I talk too much crap.

Now, dear readers of the blog, I know there is a *load* of crap in here somewhere back in the archives... (for which the link is still missing by the way, sorry about that) but I don't think its all bad. In fact, some of it I consider intelligent, logical, and the like.

hmm.

anyway, this is kind of a ramble I may remove, so if you get to read it, good for you.
or something.

hmm double hmm.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do to improve the quality of my life... I'm stuck again, but at least I've picked up a book for the first time in six months...

Actually, I do know one thing in particular that I want, but I am not 100% confident that it's going to work... therefore I leave it in limbo for a time... there are very few people that know what I am actually talking about here... It involves being in love... at least I wish I was more sure that's what it is...

a vox pop, after an 11 hour day...

well 10 hours 40 minutes, but who's counting? (should that be who's or whose?)

again i do washing at a stupid hour of the day, and what do I have to blame... working two jobs!

Now I just wondered, people out there in internet land, how many of you are working two jobs just to get by?
Are working two jobs out of loyalty?
Are working two jobs so you can save for something specific etc?

Perhaps, share with me in the comments section, so that I can justify this insanity that seems to consume me every 6 months or so...

I could be watching the Simpsons, instead I sit here and *continue* to use a computer after too many hours in front of one.

My actual vox pop for today has been on my mind for a while...
and let me give you an example and put it in a bit of context as well...

SHOULD police persons riding police horses on public streets be made to clean up after the horses doing their business?

For example, once I was sitting outside the Ex having a beverage when some police horses went by, ususally two isn't it, in this case it was... anyway, the horses decided to drop some bits right next to patrons drinking and possibly eating as well in front of the venue.

Do you not think it appropriate for the police horses to wear 'nappies'...?? and I believe there is such a thing, so don't think I'm just making things up, it's a suggestion.

I understand it would be difficult for a police person to get off the horse and clean i up then and there, because ordinarily there may be nothing to tie the horse too, AND they're probably on a city street.... but yeh... it annoys me, we can get done for dropping litter and they don't get done for leaving a bit hot steaming pile of poo outside somewhere I am trying to drink a bev.

Also, once they did it on a pedestrian crossing in Hindley Street, which grossed me out, because I wanted to cross the street without a) stepping in it, and b) smelling it...

Anyway, I could start a revolution perhaps.
Police horses are beautiful, but having poo in a city street is not very cool. Especially since we live in a nice clean city.

my two cents,
xJ

Appropriate for this very moment now...

And according to hels and a few others, I'm breaking the cardinal blog rule, but you know what... I really don't care.

Bidston Moss: Sunday
it's in the garden late at night
it's in the way she holds him tight
It's in the way he moves away
It's in the things they never say

How long is too long?
and how far is away?
When it all feels too wrong...
in the end and the time that it takes from your day

It's time, ok

She's closing in and feeling down
He's working nights all over town
It's in the time they never spend,
it's in the way they both pretend...

How long is too long?
and how far is away?
When it feels like it's gone
In the end at the time that's not left in the day
It's my time, Okay

and it's just the way it seems to go
always the same, just surviving
it gets too cold to warm their toes
and now it all seems rather frightening...
ENDE

12/4/03
the mere thousands of thoughts that enter my head in a short period of time
completely surrounded by the next through in such a brief moment
each thought stealing a moment and forcing procrastination
the more fantasy passing through, what becomes reality?
one day i'll be where I wish to be
full of my own spirit and soul in full obvious view
but for this moment, kept in dark recesses behind many walls
to trust will take so much
to love will take so much
energy and passion fading in waves of shrugs and misinterpretation...
ENDE

daylight savings...

snuuh. It's daylight by the time I wake up now. Grr and double-grr.
Oh well, I guess it happens every year, I *should* be used to it by now... but no it never gets any easier as far as I'm concerned....

Oh well.... my brain will hopefully re-adjust to it shortly...

tequila...?

now tequlia is ordinarily not my drink of choice... and this morning I woke up with a thumping head... however, I had no-one to blame but myself so I can't really complain at all... I just tried to sleep and skulled more water... a bottle of coke pretty much fixed me right up...

Tried a new place called "The Chapel Cafe" that I hadn't been before last night. Fantastic. Cheap meals that were just great and cheap shots too, hence the tequila disaster! After a few glasses of red, you can hardly taste the tequila anyway. Not one beer for me all night, that's *got* to do something to my ever growing beer stomach... nyuk.

Saw some Adelaide ROCK ICONS in Matt + Denny from Brillig as well as Leigh*dust from Hello Minnesota... hung out at Rhino with my fave girls from down south, the ever sexy Eva + the ever sexy Heidi...
and even got me a therapy session too... i *love* you, and I mean that. and you know it...

Random thinking:
I am so patient with the things I am willing to sit around and wait for... whilst I *could* be arsed playing the field, or at least going on dates... I sit here, and wait. Because one day something will fall in my lap. And you know, I'm willing to wait the 2 or so years that I honestly believe it's going to take to progress to a new level...

(I already lost this post once by the way *again* and the original one was sweet. My own fault for bouncing between pages trying to find lyris to Mia Dyson's "Precious Thing", which, by the way, I still can't find. Shite!)

"We're just two lost fish, swimming in a fish bowl year after year, going over the same old ground, and what have we found...??"

the baggsmen are back in Adelaide soon. Must make an effort to see them this time.

Oh and happy 6th birthday to the Rhino Room for next Saturday!! My place of frivolity and mirth for ever. Love you all like you would not believe. Why else do i shower you with chocolate biscuits at xmas time?

I promised myself...

I'd have the washing in and the bins out before dark... and *then* check e-mails and compose blogs and stuff and things...

however I have failed yet again, because I am SDG!!

I am getting very concerned about the shorter days starting... I mean I'll be grateful for the extra hour on Sunday morning I'm sure, but daylights savings messes with me for weeks afterwards. It's going to mean if I continue to work two jobs (yes, we're back to that) I will be getting home when it's dark. It means I will freeze in the mornings, and have to wear too many layers of clothing and start to look like an eskimo... I am not an eskimo and though I like eskimos I would not wish to look like I live in the snow where I live somewhere it's *supposed* to be hot.

Can we rewind and go back to the start of summer, and can you chuck in some more 38C days whilst your at it? Thanks for that.

Call me crazy, I love summer. What do you think one of the reasons was for avoiding England so far... yep, that's pretty much it...

As far as the migration to Queensland is concerned... I think it's a good idea.

Then if I still find nothing in a few years I'll go to Europe and freeze my arse off.

random thought: I came home to discover the turkish pye I bought not more than 48 hours ago had already started to go mouldy! And I'm really pissed off you know, because my dinner involved eating that Turkish Pye! So instead I had to use some crackers.... which isn't so bad either, but you can't really toast them...

right.... GET WASHING IN NOW JULIE YOU LAZY BLOG NERD!

hmm...

logged off for a little while to talk to taryn on the phone. i haven't talked to her in some time, but it's funny when you've been friends for more than 10 years it doesn't seem to matter if you don't chat for a bit.

it's funny that she sees so many people from school still and i don't. or i guess not really. I've kept in touch with her and a slight handful of other people. I had a lot of friends through youth groups and stuff like that, so my group of school friends was pretty select and few. At least the ones I'd consider close friends.

People come and go so frequently in lifetimes... well I don't know... possibly not. But I have this handful of friends I've known forever. Which is really cool you know, like you know so much about each other and each others families and stuff. And you do occasionally reminisce about the good, the bad and the ugly of the past. I like having those kinds of friends around.

Which reminds me, Greg where the hell are ya? Stop working so much bitch and come and see me!

Da noo poo's (or The New Pollutants as they are *actually* known) rock National Youth Week soon, with a little bit o' help from Hello Minnesota!

I feel like there is something else to be said... but I don't know what.
I still haven't watched the news in weeks. I'd have no idea what is going on in the world if it weren't for passing comments from others. That kinds of concerns me, but kind of not... sometimes I'd prefer to be naive about some of it, because it's quite stressful to hear about it...

I want to go to Melbourne for Easter, any takers?

holy snorkel batman...

my ever so witty post that I created got swallowed by the dial-up monster...
it basically said i have internet all the time now so look out!

It also said that I haven't listened to nearly enough Buck 65 recently, so it's gone on the stereo...

It also said (in a much better way than this) that we were very excited today when the lovely and curvy Adam Hills played Home for the Def's mish-mash album "mess with the best" on JJJ this morning! We love him and wish to have his babies, should he ever have any.

Dude! I loved my post! Damn you dial-up monster of evil for swallowing it. May you die horribly.

19/3/04

Congratulations must go out to the ever impressive TANYA for securing a new and exciting job. Bravo!

In celebration, we went to one of the new SUSHI TRAINS and chomped our way through some snacks. I also tried Green Tea Iceacream for the first time. It doesn't taste too bad at all.

We then proceeded to the place of many beers + conversed over the wonder of the 'century club', the films we love by PT Anderson, and the musical abilities of Nick Cave...

I really like talking to new people, it kind of rekindles my faith in humanity... or something like that.

I am concerned that I may be getting sick. I have been a little hot and cold all day. Lucky I'm taking it easy and staying in tonight. Will have to eat lots of vitamins for dinner!

It's quite a new thing to me that I have direction in my life. At least I know where I'm going to end up by New Years Eve. As to what I'll do when I get there, I'm not 100% sure. I think it's wise for me to work towards securing a job in the entertainment industry. Not as a singer, dancer or actor, but as a manager or event co-ordinator. Perhaps I will study something part time to get a bit more of a grasp on it. I'm not particularly good with the study of things I'm only mildly interested in, however if it's something I like I seem to revel in it a bit more.

The STUPIDEST PAGE I HAVE TO DO AT WORK OVER THE INTERCOM SYSTEM:

Ooh, found my post from 11/3...

I've decided that substance abuse really does make people horrible, chuck in a bit of attitude and you can throw them out the back seat "Jay + Silent Bob" style...

The last week has taught me this in such abound... some of you reading may well have seen me last Friday or Saturday in this hazy void, trying not to complain, but trying to piece together in my head what had just happened.

One of two things was going to happen last Friday and the thing I was kind of hoping would occur, did. The feeling wasn't there. At all. Besides any of the other crap... There would have been nothing worse than having to deal with separation.

I guess I'm fortunate in that sense, I can move right on from it...

I know, once again this is a scatty post giving bits of informaiton, but I don't want to explain all of it, and I don't want to mention names or specific situations.

I do however wish to thank Benjamin... and Annie... and my therapist... for being lovely people.

I absolutely hate the weather at the moment. Why couldn't it stay hot? Boo :(

OLD JIMEOIN: "I love 'boo', imagine if you could use it when you're grown up. Like you go to the bank manager, and the bank manager says I'm sorry, you just can't afford this house... and you go BOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He says 'no, no you can afford a smaller house'... 'Don't want a house now'..."

Recent situations / developments / lack of thoughts on someone elses part mean that I will soon be living alone again. I don't mind, I actually prefer it. I mean, money wise it can be a real bitch, but over all it's pretty sweet.

ANother thing I've noticed recently is that I think I've become a lot tougher on some things. For example, things that I might have put up with a year ago, I won't put up with now.

The more time I spend alone, the more truly independant I become. my next relationship with whomever it may be may well be a balls-up because of this, but you can't really rely on such things... NO RELY! I mean WORRY, cos otherwise they'll never be another relationship in my life. I've always been independant, just never this much.

"There comes a time in every mans life when he must make a giant woman out of wood and launch her into the sea!" Gatesy in Tripod tells the tale of Tosswinkle the Pirate (not very well)
ROCKS TRIPOD!
Honest, Tripod are kicken', but what's with the shithouse "Skithouse"? Honestly boys, I luvs ya, but "wha'?"... maybe it's just Peter Helliers fault... I don't know.

A chachachachachaaaaaaaaaaaa.... Losing mind.

Wednesday, March 17, 2004

ooh, nearly on time...

bloglicious from 16/3/04... in my head but not on the page...

For those of you that know the gritty details of the weird chain of events in the last week, I will be repeating myself... I could have really let everything get to me, but an air of change is about.

I'm more unimpressed than upset, unimpressed at what alcohol and/or drugs and/or mild pieces of success can do to you.

I wasn't jealous, I wasn't sad, I did want to talk about it with a few friends, but I felt nothing.

Nothing at all, kind of let down I suppose and not respected, but when you realise you really do live a whole different and better life to someone else, it's not so bad.

I have love, and no I haven't been hiding a secret boyfriend in my hair... I have love around me in the form of a bunch of great friends.

I hope everyone takes note of the opening song in Moulin Rouge sung by David Bowie:
"The Greatest thing
You'll ever learn
is just to love
and be loved in return..."

Those four lines mean so much to me. Hopelessly romantic. Lost in imaginary visions of things to come. And occasionally reminding others that it's okay... I have love where this person currently (possibly) has none.

In this way I am thankful and not bitter.

That nothing feeling was more confusing than anything. I wonder what has happened to some of the natural stimulants in my body.

I haven't been riding much because as a temp I kind of have to dress up (and not smell), so I've been catching public transport. I don't mind catching it whatsoever, it just means where I was getting an hour of lower cardio at
least every second day, I'm now getting a little bit of walking in only. When I get home Friday, one of my friends and I are going to go on an hour walk. Not much I know, but better than nothing at all.

I think I might go on the liver cleansing diet, because, let's face it, it probably needs a good clean. Perhaps that will assist in correcting my metabolism.

I keep changing my daily 'lying in the park' position to get a different perspective. Today I note a different statue of which I must take a closer look at shortly. It's a lady holding a bouquet of flowers.

I should probably filter some of my money into a gym membership, personal trainer or naturopath... but I also think I just need to push myself, set aside certain evenings (or god forbid mornings) that I do specific things. Mix it up a little. Move and shake.

I find it hard to read still, and I realised I haven't really noted the news in the last month or so. I don't know if it's 100% healthy to be naive. I did get a newspaper last week and the story about a car park wanting to charge cyclists that worked in the building was appalling. Hopefully Bicycle SA step up to this one. They did a good thing with Cycle East during Feb allowing cyclists discounts at particular shops... promoting cycling and the shops willing to support the campaign. Good idea.

xJ

Back to the future... blog... erm, that didn't quite work...

what i would have blogged on 15/3/2004 if i'd had a net computer...

I've just discovered my Uncle's mother has passed away. I didn't know her
very well, but he will be upset (obviously) as I understand they were pretty
close.

She was 93 though, so what a damn good innings. She'd been quite sick for
several months now, so I'm sure it's somewhat a relief as well.

I've been trying to rekindle my eye for beauty in everyday things.
Sometimes in this busy world it's hard to stop and look. One thing of
particular beauty are the buildings in this city. Sure, some of them suck
because they were built in the 70's or 80's, but there are quite a few
Elizabethan (I Guess) ones that I love. I've been trying to picture how the
new (and very unneccesary) apartments behind the Exeter are going to look.
Hopefully not too much like the city West Uni Building!

Why can't they build something with modern facilities but that looks
classic? Get rid of all this tacky bull*hit. Reminds me of Lycra. I don't
know why.

Now that the West End is really picking up, I wonder when someone will buy /
re-open the Red Room? If I had the money I'd be interested in it.

There's this tiny statue in Light Square I never noticed before. It has a
telescope or some sort of surveying equipment on top of it. How
interesting.

Watched "Intolerable Cruelty" on DVD last night. Damn fine. But the Coen
Brothers rarely let me down. I don't think I've ever disliked one of their
films.

NOw that the Fringe is over I'm a bit sad. Though it went like such a blue
and I think "what did i actually do in the last 4 weeks?". There was only
one show that I came out of feeling kind of mediocre about. I won't say
which one, but everything was pretty great. Meeting Adam Hills was
fantastic, and the Tripod lads too. Having my 'friend' back from London was
just a laughable experience. I never want to see him again.

I'm vowing to go to one big show a month if I can. Stop spending money on
alcohol Julie and see more shows!!

10/3/04 - The Splendaro Vox Pop Part 2

If you had a tv show of your own...

a) what type of show would it be?
b) what channel would you want it to be on?
c) what time slot?
d) your cast members?
e) the name of the show?

Leave your answers in the comments section...

The other week when Adam and Tripod were on my show, I did post the whole set list and write my Circus Monoxide review, but it all disappeared, cos I wasn't concentrating and pressed something wrong! Darn!

Last week I saw Beats Per Minute, Craig Egans Summer of Rock tour, Adam Hills: Go you Big Red Fire Engine 2 Judgement Day, and Tripod's Lady Robots.

The best part of Tripod's show (for me anyways) was without doubt the GUITAR KINGS! If you saw the show you'll know what I'm on about. Also, when Gatesy nerded up and went 'into the computer'. Go C64 references!! Ohh Gatesy, so cute.

I'm starting to save for my next big life transition, moving to Queensland. I think it will be a good thing for me, loads of sunshine and loads of fresh fruit. Perhaps even a career change. After all, I WOULD make a superb Marilyn Monroe at Movie World!

Also saving up to go on a proper holiday in September with some girlfriends to a happy warm climate too.

Now that I think of it, I haven't been on a proper holiday in a while. The last one would have probably been the extra short trip to Melbourne 2 years ago! Not good enough I say! Less stress and less work I say! There's got to be a way I can do what I did last year and take three months off over summer every year for ever!

Note to self: Hurry up and get that Federico Aubele CD would ya?! jeez!

GO YOU BIG RED FIRE ENGINE!!

I wanted to publicly thank someone for a chat I had with them on e-mail earlier in the week, but I won't embarrass them. I think they know who they are. Doctor?! I will however, apologise, for any public affections of love in the way of enormous hugs I may give them in the near future...

So I suppose I could write about all the dastardly horrid weird love-hate stuff I seem to have been posting lately.... instead (insert your *gasp* here)
Yesterday during my show I had some Fringey guests on again, Adam Hills + Tripod.
Adam lifted me up (not physically, that wouldn't work, I'm too heavy) because his outlook and personality knock everything for six. I'd remembered seeing him do some stand-up last year at Rhino and being suitably impressed, but probably said no more than 'boo' to him on that particular day.

I had been telling him how Richard Easton had said to me how laid back and easy the interview I did with him was.
At the end of the show, Adam pretty much said the same thing: "You're right, this is the best/easiest interview I've ever done". (props to me)

All the guys loved being able to poke through the shelves of music.... Gatesy stating "this is too much" whilst staring at the rows and rows of vinyl, completely dumbfounded and unable to decide....

It might be cool to get paid for doing radio, but I get to play with 66,000 albums every week! And I get control over my show. And I get to have guests in like these guys who rock my world and talk to them quite candidly, instead of being so straight-edged about it.

There's something extra special about yesterday, it was a lovely day. Lucky I have recorded it for posterity.

*aside* As fringe wears on, I get more and more impatient!

I got my hair done on Saturday at Limbo (Unley Road, go there, they rock!) again. My hair had grown about 4 inches since mid-November which is heaps!

The cuts even better again and I already know how I want it done next time.

I think I'm some kind of 1930's dancer or something out of an old period drama! My hair is so curly, but I think it looks fekkin' rad (Not to brag... hehehe). All I need's a tassel dress and some feathers in my hair... yeh dress-ups!!

I want to talk more about Adam Hills, but I don't know what to say. You know when things become more like a mesh of a memory? Yeh. When I listen to the interview again I'll write more. Go see his new show "Go you Big Red Fire Engine 2: Judgement Day" @ The Fringe. And also be aware if you know
anyone with a hearing impairment that he has an Auslan Interpreter @ his show on Sundays. Mega uber Props for that!

I've also realised I'm a bit of a klutz when it comes to stubbing toes or
walking into things...

Now that I'm going to Beats per Minute tomorrow, and Adam Hills, then Tripod Thursday, and 12 Angry Men on Friday.... you'll have to excuse me if I hibernate tonight and Wednesday!!

So much to see, so little time! It's kind of unfortunate I chose to leave going back to temp work til now. Had I done it a month ago, I could have taken a couple weeks off during fringe, and rode thru the cash I had. Boo to me! :(

The Cat Empire are playing at the Festival Venue "Universal Playground" on the 8th March. Even if you are sick of hearing their 'hello hello' track, they played one of the best shows I saw last year.

Dooooooooooooooooo yyyyyyyyyyyyoooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu rrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeee?
